Canvey Point, 07:10 to 16:25, Breezy NE, early murk clearing, couple of light showers, wind easing later. Hi tide 19:20
6 Red-throated Diver (Inc close Juv on water), 1 Anser sp. (Single bird (probably WfG) flying very erratically, vertically and horizontally, attracted attention of a skua at one point then just plummeted into the sea! ), 1 Pintail (Duck close in), 4 Eider (Pair flew east 7:27 then 2 drakes drifted upstream 16:10), 600 Common Scoter (+, Multiple large flocks throughout but 400+ and 150+ flew back upriver on rising tide with others on the water), 1 Velvet Scoter (Drake flew west 9:05, then close back towards pier base 9:40 not associated with other scoter), 1 Sparrowhawk (North across river), 40 Dunlin (+), 3 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Arctic Skua (Inc one cracking pale phase adult), 1 Mediterranean Gull (Adult), 2 Little Gull (Adults flying slowly east 13:00), 1 Sabine's Gull (Adult upriver 08:45), 100 Kittiwake (+, Multiple flocks up and down river, mix of ad and 1st w), 3 Guillemot, 2 Puffin (Both juvs west mid river 08:30 ), 2 Rock Pipit [Jeff Delve]
